So after a pretty relaxing evening, everyone is up nice and early for an avocado smash breakfast, something I’ve definitely missed since being here last. It’s Michelle’s birthday so plan for the day is to be ready by 4pm for drinks in the garden before we head to Freo for the SUNDOWN SESSIONS, end of summer beach gig. Bex, Tamara’s friend pops over and it’s lovely to see her again and catch-up. She is heading with Tamara and McGregor to Freemantle to look at outside tables for the garden. I opt to stay at the house to do my jobs I need to do and to enjoy the sunshine, rather than shopping. Michelle is in and about the house all day with a couple of her friends swinging by to see her for her birthday, so stuff is going on all day.
At 4pm, Marissa her friend and who I had a fun night out with after new year comes over for drinks. Also there is Pat her husband and his 2 brothers, who I also met already when I was her last after new years. It’s nice drinking some decent rose wine (not goon) for a change and catching-up before we need to head about 6pm to the gig.
Jumping in ubers, we manage to get there just as the sun is setting and remains me just how nice the sunsets are in Perth and it’s my mission in next few days to watch a full sunset haha. It’s a pretty cool gig set-up and nice vibe, older as it is a more blues and jazz funk. There are a few people on the beach too, which is cool and me and tamara check it out for a bit, but the sand gets slightly annoying when you want to dance with shoes on so head to the main part where we have a good spot.
Not really familiar with who is playing, but the main act comes on about 8ish that the girls want to see and they are good. Time goes super quick though and the gig ends just before 10. It actually finishes early, which everyone isn’t so impressed with as the fianl band didn’t even say bye or tell the crowd they were finishing.
So it isn’t too hard to get back and Michelle does a great job at arranging an uber, ahead of all the crowds trying to flag taxi’s down. Back at Tamara’s we sit in the garden for a couple of hours making the most of the nice weather and enjoying a last few drinks.
