So it’s the day for the long and awaited Whitsundays Tour. Not starting until 2pm, it gives the morning to spend at the Lagune and it’s a nice group there playing skim ball with Byron Bay Quincy, Amsterdam Frank, Agnes Craig, the Fraser girls and Chloe and Philip from Frasers.
So for the Pride of Airlie the agenda is a sail to the island we are staying at to chill out there then sailing around the whitsunday islands all day Thursday. It’s a big group at first heading to the South Molle as they combine the 2 groups created for the main tour. It’s a gorgeous hot day and everyone seems excited for the trip. It takes about an hour and we have music on, so it’s nice to just enjoy the slow sail there.
Once at the island it reminds me of an abandoned Jurassic Park as it’s an old hotel that kept getting hit by cyclones so was turned into a hostel. It has a fab swimming pool, cold water jacuzzi, tennis courts, golf course and even a heli pad. The shops here even still have clothes in them but are all closed up giving the abandoned feeling, which is pretty cool as you do feel like it’s your own private island. The jetty too is nice to look out into the sea and even spot some sort of small shark swimming about. The rooms are nice and look out over the golf course and I have nice bunch of swedish and German girls in the room.
So the first night spend mostly in the pool playing volleyball until dinner, which is spaghetti so not bad and plenty to even get 2nds. Rest of the night end up chatting with 2 very loud and funny Canadians, who I later find out to also be Grizzly Bear Hunters but only every 3 years as that’s all that is allowed. I also hang out with an English guy called Ben, who was also in my Dorm at Magnums and an English guy called Gareth so end up chatting away until quite late, but nothing too crazy as it’s a 7.30am start the next day!
