Last couple of days in Indonesia, we are both keen to have a more chilled time as been on the go for last week. When we arrive in Seminyak the hotel we are in called Sense is gorgeous and we even get a free upgrade although they didn’t tell us we had been upgraded and nearly lost it again when they said the room wasn’t ready and put us in a standard one haha. Room crisis diverted we straight away head out to check out the area and the shops and it doesn’t take too long to suss it all out.
First night we decide to leave the beach until we can get to see the sunset and walk down to double six beach, as the beach near us is packed with locals and is very dirty with rubbish, log, branches from what maybe a storm washed up. We check out potato head as we are so close and it’s cool seeing it by day super busy after being there at night and practically having the place and pool to ourselves.
Back in town we find a cool bar – Cha Cha Grill which is an amazing spot for people watching as the seats are stepped going all way down and best prices for drinks, as Seminyak doesn’t really seem to do good happy hours unlike in ubud. So they do frozen cocktails which are large, tasty and really good value at 45k (£2.25), rose sangria for 40k (£2) and offer on wine for 150k (£7.50) which is good for asia! Plus they have a retractable roof, which was put into action as it suddenly out of no where monsooned it down so handy to know as we had been wondering! Originally going to get food as the reviews are good, because we are given free tortilla chips, we get full up on those and as the affordable stuff on the menu is quite limited to noodles we decide to try something cheaper and end up in Soho a 24hour restaurant with a traditional ozzie pie haha. After dinner we try and hunt down the lively places which are actually quite hard to find and walk right up to a club called mirror that isn’t open but we pass lots of fab looking bars but all empty so wondering if it’s just the time of year.
Based on the lack of life on the restaurant street, for the 2nd night we head to double six beach where I went with Rocky as it’s got a cool atmosphere, people plus the anazing waves with quite a few surfers on to watch as the sun sets. We eat at Resto, which is one I’ve not tried before but is the most reasonably priced along the strip with mee goreng only at at 35k (£1.70) vs the usual 60k+ prices so great for saving bit before reach more expensive oz! End up staying there all night just chatting and listening to the live band who are pretty good.
So last day is a morning of pool time as it’s so refreshing as the sun is hot before squeezing one last massage in. We go to one called puspa around the corner and compared to Ubud it’s half the price and nearly just as good. Very firm and a bit too hard for Holly who walks out more in pain than relaxed on her calf and back which luckily eases off as not ideal for a long flight.
For our last lunch we head to Sea Circus mainly Mexican food and such a cute little restaurant too. Just wanting something small I order guacamole and dip and it comes out as a huge portion with 3 dips (quac, salsa and sour cream ) so great value as only £1 for a light lunch and nice farewell to Seminyak, before getting the taxi to the airport for Holly to go NZ and me Perth via Singapore.
