Uncle Brian’s Tableland Waterfalls Part 2 – it’s the mysterious girl

So the afternoon of Uncle Brian’s we head to where we are having lunch, which is near the Millaa Millaa falls famous for Peter Andre Mysterious Girl video and Timotei hair adverts. Lunch is  all included and is pretty nice, especially the treacle sponge desert with caramel sauce.

Linzi warns us that these falls are the coldest of the day and since the weather is pretty wet anyway, it’s not the ideal place to go. The falls are super beautiful and it’s refreshing swimming across and under the falls, which are powerful but not as strong coming down as the one in Lombok went to. Linzi gets us all together to each do the hair flick pose and after a few takes I manage to get a good pic and then with Chris have a go doing the flick together to make a love heart and we pretty much nail it! Good fun. There are 4 irish and scottish girls together travelling and they have a go doing synchronised hair flicks too, although takes a few takes to get all their timing right, but they manage it haha.

The next stop after there is to the warmest swim of the day, a greeny/blue looking lake Lake Eacham that is really nice to swim, jump and relax in. There are little turtles and fish swimming along in the lake too. After the swim Linzi tries to warm us up with hot chocolate, marshmallows and muffins much needed! As we all warm up, Linzi starts telling us some interesting stories about her time on super yachts and also the silver swift boat that goes to the reef, such as incidents where an old lady had a disaster onboard when she was both sea sick and had a very upset belly. Not pleasant what they have to do as boat crew haha.

As this is the last swim stop, we head to the nearby On the Wallaby Hostel to dry off. It’s a really relaxed place, like a lodge with dog and big arm chairs about. One of the girls on the bus starts playing guitar wonderwall and I end up playing darts for awhile with Chris until we leave to head to the final spot of the day in search of Platypuses.

We travel for about 10minutes to an area where they live, a long river area and as it is about 5pm this is the time they come out for foo, but are still very hard to see and it’s a game of patience just managing to catch one little guy swimming about.

As it starts to rain again, we all jump back in the bus for the 2 hour journey back, which is so scenic and one of the highlights of the day as we need to travel down the mountains along a winding road that has apparently 264 corners going down. Every corner we turn there are views looking down across the other tableland green mountains. We are on the road for about an hour and makes you appreciate just how high we actually were. Linzi tries to keep us entertained by doing karoake on the bus, with songs from grease and puts on some tunes especially for Chris who loves his rock music and can actually sing too. A fun end to a really good tour, which would highly recommend to anyone who wants to experience some rainforest and waterfalls.

As we get back about 8pm from the tour, quick shower and change to meet some of the guys from the bus and it’s Chris last night, who has been working here for last year and heading back home to the cold. The live music is good and end up having a fun night.
