Greyhound bus leaves at 4 so have a day to check out Hervey Bay a little and also chill out after a fairly late night for the fraser afterparty. Started the night with Sophie, Rebecca, Chloe and Philip from my car where we grabbed some great value pizza and a supersized icecream from the cute little strip of shops in town and then had some drinks in the hostel chatting to the 2 lovely swiss sisters. Meeting the rest of the group in the pub opposite palace it’s quite fun and everyone in a good mood, apart from one of the Ipswich farmers has small argument with a german guy and needs to be held back, which gives some drama for the night. A few locals tell us about the local club Viper and as it’s friday it should be busy, so check it out with Rebecca, Chloe and Phil. It’s a pretty dark and dingy club and really smells, but get used to it pretty quickly. We all have a good night dancing away and after a few of us head to the beach with my speaker and goon for an afterparty. Australia is good for public outside areas to sit so always somewhere to go!
So the last day is pretty rainy and so stuck in the hostel mainly, which gives time to organise next part of trip and do boring jobs like washing. I do borrow an umbrella and venture out for a bit to see more of the town, but its really small so doesn’t take long. There is a cute little jetty by the beach, although beach itself isn’t amazing. Otherwise it’s just parks, local sailing club and few little shops. There is also a whale musuem, but slightly further out so don’t fancy walking that far in the moonsoon style rain as even with an umbrella getting wet. The rest of day is just waiting for the bus and then arriving about 10pm in Agnes Water.
