The weekend antics of Coogee Pavilion

So exciting to be able to stay with my friend Ali for a few nights who lives in Coogee! After a pretty heavy night at the Ivy it’s awesome to be able chill at her flat especially as its raining and no good for the city day I was going to do! Ali gets back from work and does a fab chicken salad for dinner and then we head out to see a bit of coogee going to the Pavilion owned by the same guy as Ivy so pretty swish. Friday is the quietest of the night’s with the night being more sitting and chatting over a few glasses of red wine on the upstairs terrace. The music is hit and miss and to dance we end up going downstairs but the DJ does seem to have it all tunes on slow mo so hard to dance to. We meet a crazy ozzie group who we end up hanging out with for a bit, before one of the guys gets chucked out as too drunk lol. I get chatting to another Essex guy Alex lives in Brentwood who is also a DJ and like me hating the slow pace of the music.

Saturday Ali is having a girls night, so get to meet new people Emma, Chevon, Kim and Mimi all really nice. Staying having pre drinks until about 11 we are later out than Friday and can notice straight away it is a different vibe and people – much more Saturday night party atmosphere so it is lot’s of fun and do lots of dancing as luckily the music is much faster tonight. We meet more cool people out and hang out with a french Canadian called Martin and Alex the DJ comes out to party too. Another late and fun night!

With visits also on Fri and Saturday, it’s safe to say the music definitely gets better with Sunday by far being the best as there are proper DJ sets but means there are ques of up to 2 hours so super popular. So Sunday we combine the pavilion with Coogee Bay Hotel in their beer garden, which has a great vibe everyone enjoying a sunday session in the sun and all much more relaxed than the pavilion. Sunday sessions are definitely the thing to do here and even the park is totally rammed with people using the free bbq’s and creating a very summertime vibe. But it does mean the wine goes down quickly with me and Emma sharing couple of bottles, so by the time we do get into pavilion we are all very lively and with the music being so good I am hard to get off the dance floor especially when topping up my drinking with prosecco when it’s probably not needed. A few of us stay out late, despite having work Monday lol so partying with another of Ali’s mates Crystal and Martin the french Canadian who actually I think sounds Irish and Emma. All great fun and nice to meet so will have to come again as have enjoyed seeing the Pavilion’s different nights out through the weekend.

Friday 15th, Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th January
