So reaching the end of the beaches and the sun starting to go down, I decide to head up amd over the top of the penisula. Not really sure what to expect and there not being many others who are doing it so late, I try not to hang around too long at the top as don’t want to be the only person up there. I soon realise there are a lot of people coming from the opposite direction, which eases my mind and so towards the end slow the pace down. The walk up was actually not very hard and either is the walk along the top very flat and lots of look out points to stop at.
It’s very beautiful from so high looking down and the seals just look like tiny dots, but luckily the super zoom camera can get some great shots. It’s nice with the beaches looking all shady and light as makes it bit eeerie. Will come back when it’s sunny too. It’s cool also looking down to the rocks I was climbing out over at the start.
Feeling like I have walked a lot, the walk home isnt that appealing, but it’s nice in the last bit of sunshine and catching the sunset before it goes over the Kaikora mountains. It actually doesn’t take too long as not stopping so much for photos, about 40-50mins, but by time I get back I’ve walked enough.
Grabbing my bag from fishtank I head to Dolphin Lodge, whichis harder to get to as uphill especially when your carrying heavy bags. The lodge seems nice and I see a girl from the dolphin swim. Everyone is cooking and there doesn’t seem to be a different area to sit, so just watch them while I sit charging and organising photos sitting on the bench. It has a cosy feel to it and the girl from dolphin swimming is in the hot tub. Feeling too shattered to do much it’s just a nice night there with everyone being a little social and chatty, but not as much as the other place and everyone is asleep early. The rooms are pretty cold though and does make you want to hibernate haha!
