Noosa Surfing and Last Day

Aiming to make the most of the day despite the rainy weather, decide to try out the Noosa surf and Robin is also keen. Nomads offer free surfboards, but only one has the ankle tag and they are also quite short so we decide to hire it at the beach. Heading after doing the boring jobs like washing, Ashleigh from our dorm also comes along to watch and check out the beach.

When we get there it’s really busy with competition on between the surf clubs and as it’s Sunday a lot of people enjoying drinks at the beach bars just looking out at the sea. We walk right to the end towards some rocks trying to find a guy who apparently has a tent doing hires, but he isnt out and are told to go to the surf club.

The view over the rocks is really pretty with the national park in the background and the sea going into a big bay. The water also looks nice with decent waves and some surfers, but also looks a bit far out as despite the water straight infront looking shallow because the beach is there, it can’t be as see a jet ski coming across and a guy fishing to the side.

So heading to the surf club to find a board, we stop to chill for bit while we have sun, but rain only stays away about 20mins. At the surf club we find a guy renting boards and take one fibre glass one to try and one foam, both about 9foot. It seems average price for board at £25 (£13) for 2hours,  but the guy is sweet and gives us extra hour for free as half way through our surfing we ask to extend as enjoying it so much. It’s bit of a walk to where the best waves with a heavy board, but they are good for learning as time inbetween each wave to get in position and paddle for the wave. I only mange to catch couple as timing always slightly out and the fibre glass board is quite fast so not enough time to improve me getting on and standing on the board. Great fun trying though.

After the surfing, head back to the hostel for new contact lens as lost them in the waves, which not done before so think more than usual I was getting knocked about the waves haha. It does build up an appetite and so head to grab a nice dinner (non pizza lol) with Ashleigh and Robin before spending rest of night chilling in the room with them having some vino and chatting, keeping it low key so ok for Fraser Island which is heavy party trip.
